Bound Lotus Posture (Baddha Padmasana)
Baddha Padmasana or Bound/Locked Lotus Posture is a variation of Padmasana. It comes from the Samskrta words 'Baddha' which means locked and 'Padma' for lotus, and 'Asana' which means posture or pose. It is great for straightening and lengthening the spine. It also addresses gout or stiffness of the knee and gives a lot of flexibility to the arms and legs. This posture helps relax and the mind, as it is a meditation pose.
Pregnant women, those with knee injuries, and those suffering from sciatica are advised not to practice this asana.
How to Execute Baddha Padmasana:
- Start with the Padmasana posture.
- Direct the right-hand back wards from the right side and catch the right big toe.
- Do the same for the left hand, catching the left big toe.
- Sustain this pose for 30 seconds.
Practice: Bound Lotus Posture (Baddha Padmasana) 4 rounds x 30 seconds each.
